The ceramic lining guides the material flows, protects the steel shell and prevents heat loss. At process temperatures up to 2000 °C, the refractory lining also takes on an increased relevance in respect of economy and safety. Shortcomings in planning, material and execution can lead to extreme damage and often with unclearly defined areas of responsibility.
